How Kahan Singh Pannu got posting of DG Education? 
Pannu himself offered for this challenging job of Education department.

Heading the Education Department in Punjab is usually considered as the most difficult and cumbersome task by the Ministers and officers and always try to escape this burdened responsibility. In the administrative circles, the officer who is posted in this department always takes it as a side lined posting. But this presumption is different for the Punjab cadre 2005 IAS offices Kahan Singh Pannu who himself offered to take up this challenging assignment. As per information  Mr. Pannu himself urged Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal that he may be given some challenging assignment. He himself offered that the post of Director General Education may be given to him which is presently vacant. It is also learnt that the Chief Minister told Mr. Pannu that this is quite a cumbersome task but Pannu gave his preference to this challenging assignment. As a result, Pannu was posted as Special Secretary-cum-Director General Education in todays administrative reshuffle. It is also worthwhile to mention that Pannu, before going for IAS mid-career training, was Special Secretary to Chief Minister, which is considered as a coveted assignment.
